About 82Parris

82Parris is an artist-run gallery and 501c3 non-profit dedicated to supporting emerging, mid-career, and experimental artists in the region. Founded by five working artists, we created the space to provide opportunities for creative exploration, exhibition, and professional development outside of a commercial framework.

Grounded in a shared commitment to strengthen the local arts ecosystem, we operate through a collaborative model that reflects our distinct perspectives and skill sets. Through exhibitions and community engagement, we foster artistic risk-taking, dialogue, and the exchange of ideas.

Based in Portland, Maine, our work builds on the support and inspiration the city has provided to us. With 82Parris, we aim to extend those resources to other artists by creating accessible space for experimentation, growth, and visibility within a supportive creative community.

our story

In 2023, the five of us came together from varied artistic backgrounds to build upon the foundation that New System Exhibitions established in 2018. In 2025, we became an official 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Our goal has been to expand programming, continue supporting underrepresented artists, and foster a broad, inclusive community for artists and creatives.
